The Christmas spider is a traditional Ukrainian Christmas decoration that has its roots in folk culture. It symbolizes happiness and prosperity, so it is often used as a decoration for Christmas holidays. Such "spiders" are considered a talisman and a symbol of the universe.
On the eve of Christmas, they were hung from the central beam of the house on a long hair from a horse's tail. Thanks to the air circulation in the house, the spider rotates in different directions. Usually a carnivorous spider is made of straw. It can be made in the form of a large geometric spider or a simpler elongated shape. It was believed that this straw spider absorbed negative energy from the house for a year, into the web of its structure. Traditionally, Ukrainian houses were decorated with straw decorations for the winter holidays. Our Charovani spiders are handmade from rye straw and strung on strong white thread. Crystal beads complete the design and add a festive glow and sparkle
